Seeking to spread the gospel first through ourselves and then to others by word, deed, and lifestyle.
Who We Are
Resurrection Presbyterian held our first public worship service on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Our mission has been and continues to be to bring the hope and peace of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the city of Knoxville.
We want to provide a community for both believers of Jesus and skeptics who have questions about Jesus. We want to join in the work God is doing to transform individuals, reach the disenfranchised and bring cultural renewal in Knoxville.
Lastly, we want to be a church, that in due time, will plant other PCA churches throughout Knoxville and the surrounding region.
What We Believe
-
BIBLICAL
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the inspired Word of God and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. The Bible is a complete and unified witness to God’s redemptive acts, culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
MISSIONAL
In our worship, common life together, and individual vocations, we seek to extend God’s Kingdom and reflect his character as we participate in his mission to "Fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Hab. 2:14). While it is our desire that this missional quality will be reflected in all aspects of our personal and corporate lives, it is also reflected in our deep commitment to evangelism, church planting, ministries of justice and mercy, and foreign missions.
-
REFORMED
We share the historical truths reflected in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds in common with all Christians. More particularly, we believe the distinctives of Reformed theology best represent the truths of biblical Christianity. Our particular theology is best encapsulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
-
PRESBYTERIAN
The word Presbyterian comes from the Greek word meaning elder, and we are a congregation governed by elders. In reflecting the teaching of scripture (Titus 1:5; 1 Timothy 3:1-7), our elders seek to care for the congregation through shepherding, servant-leadership, and instruction in the Word of God.
